About Monica

Monica Cafferky is an author and journalist. Her first job was on a martial arts magazine followed by a stint as a staff writer on Woman’s Own. 

Since going freelance in 2002, Monica has written about her weekend with a secretive coven of witches, interviewed many of her favourite authors, written hundreds of real life features, plus pieces about health, wellbeing, lifestyle, travel and consumer issues. For three years, Monica wrote a weekly MBS page that ran in The Daily Mirror; she sourced and interviewed over 100 different people talking about their life-changing experiences.

The Winter's Sleep is Monica’s debut novel, previously she co-authored three self-help books published by Little Brown: Instant Intuition, Future Life Progression & Cosmic Energy. All three books have been translated into several languages including Japanese, Norwegian, Czech, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Slovak and Estonian. 

Monica's fifth book, The Power of Manifesting, co-authored with Anne Jirsch, was published by Piatkus in 2024.

In 1997, Monica won a scholarship from The Reuters Foundation (now Thomson Reuters Foundation) to attend a  training course with Reuters at Green College, Oxford. She was the only British journalist selected for this award, which was open to all media worldwide. 

Monica is a Fellow of the Thomson Reuters Foundation and for five years was a visiting lecturer in journalism. 

Monica lives in Yorkshire.
